Bio of kelly robinson
MS, LPC, cctp
(she/her)
My name is Kelly Robinson, and I have a background working with individuals from various populations including children, adolescents, and adults. Prior to counseling, I worked in the Child Welfare System, helping children who have been abused and neglected reunify with their families by helping to eliminate unhealthy familial patterns, assisting individuals that are differently abled, and helped those in need and deserving of self-sufficiency.
It was a privilege to work in the human services field with individuals of all ages with physical, mental, and developmental limitations, helping individuals attain self-sufficiency and an honor to be a part of their support system for the last 14 years. As a student and a professional, I was also able to gain my master’s degree. Furthermore, this time aided me by learning to practice self-care and helped me understand and value the benefit of a healthy work-life balance.

I will be using a multimodal approach when working with clients that include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), positive psychology, and a systemic approach when appropriate or necessary. By focusing on understanding one’s feelings and reframing negative and unhealthy thought, emotional, and behavioral patterns into healthy and adaptive life patterns, clients will develop a positive outlook on life.

Since we are all unique individuals, I will aid clients in finding coping mechanisms that work for them specifically and encourage the utilization of these skills. My philosophy is to focus on the “collateral beauty” in our lives by staying gracious, positive, and hopeful through life’s hardships that we must all endure. Collaboration in the counseling environment, having the client’s voice heard, providing a safe, empathic, and transparent space, and clients doing the hard work in and out of session have been the key to my clients achieving positive outcomes in the therapeutic process and reaching their highest potential.
